Network Program

Available to:  'Lifetime' members

What is a Network?

A Network is a group of committed men and women who are in a relationship with the focus person (person with a disability).  Each member of the Network freely forms a relationship with the focus person and with every other member.  Through their relationship, these individuals offer support, advocacy, monitoring and companionship.

How is a Network developed?

A Facilitator assists the focus person to identify their interests and passions and invites people who share similar interests to make a commitment to the person.  Network members are not paid, they are rewarded by friendship and the opportunity to share their interests with one another.  Facilitators are the only people paid and are hired to develop and maintain the health of the Network.

How much does it cost?

Families are invoiced on a monthly basis for the Facilitator's time.  Approximately 4 to 6 hours a month is required to develop and maintain the Network. The cost to families is $30 per hour.

Why a Network?

Personal Networks ensure a safe and secure future for our relatives with  disabilities and contribute to their quality of life by:

  • Advocating on their behalf
  • Providing links to others in the community
  • Securing and monitoring supports and services
  • Spending time together
  • Planning, dreaming, socializing and having fun
  • Providing security and a sense of relief for all family members
  • Acting as a resource for executors and trustees
  • Providing potential executors and trustees
  • Keeping key players well informed
  • Acting as representatives and support  in decision making
  • Providing a forum for Network members to support each other
